Accra: Tata Bus Breaks Down, Completely Blocking TUC to Kojo Thompson Road

2026-08-10  Nigel Andoh

A Tata bus broke down on Monday morning, August 10, 2026, completely blocking the one-way route from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) building towards Kojo Thompson Road in Accra.

According to Graphic Online, the incident occurred on the route leading towards Adabraka and caused a major obstruction for motorists using the road.

The yellow Tata bus was reportedly still at the location when Graphic Online visited the area at about 6:30 a.m. The vehicle had not yet been towed away at the time of the report.

Because the road is a one-way route, the position of the broken-down bus created a significant obstruction for vehicles travelling towards Adabraka.

The incident occurred during the morning period, when traffic volumes in Accra are typically high, potentially adding to congestion for motorists using the route.

Motorists were therefore faced with an obstruction as they attempted to navigate the affected section of the road.

The incident also highlights the traffic challenges that can arise when large commercial vehicles break down on busy urban roads, particularly where there is limited space for motorists to pass.

It was not immediately clear from the report what caused the Tata bus to break down or when it would be removed from the road.

The breakdown of the Tata bus caused a major obstruction along the TUC-to-Kojo Thompson Road route in Accra on Monday morning. With the vehicle yet to be towed when the report was filed, motorists using the route were advised to expect difficulties and possible delays.
