NDC Is the First Political Party to Fulfil Its Entire Youth Manifesto in One Year – Malik Basintale

2026-08-09  Nigel Andoh

The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has made a strong claim about the government's performance, saying the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is the first political party in Ghana to fulfil its entire youth manifesto within one year.

Basintale's comments have generated political discussion, particularly because youth employment was a major issue during the 2024 general election campaign. The NDC campaigned on several promises aimed at creating employment opportunities, improving skills development and supporting young people to participate more actively in the economy.

In a statement shared online, Basintale argued that the government has delivered on the promises it made to young Ghanaians. He said the NDC therefore does not owe the youth any outstanding debt in relation to the commitments contained in its youth manifesto.

The Youth Employment Agency has been one of the government institutions involved in implementing programmes targeting young people. Such programmes are intended to provide employment opportunities and help address the challenges faced by young people entering the labour market.

However, claims about manifesto fulfilment are politically significant and can be interpreted differently depending on the criteria used to measure whether a promise has been fully implemented. Opposition parties and independent observers may therefore assess the government's record differently.

Basintale's statement comes at a time when youth unemployment, skills development and access to decent jobs remain important issues in Ghana. Many young people continue to look for sustainable employment and opportunities to develop businesses and professional careers.

The government's performance on youth-related policies is therefore likely to remain under public scrutiny as the administration moves further into its term.

Malik Basintale's declaration that the NDC has fulfilled its entire youth manifesto in one year represents a strong assessment of the government's performance. While the claim has attracted attention, the extent to which every individual promise has been fulfilled will continue to be a subject of political and public debate.
