The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the introduction of a 24-hour Ghana Card registration centre at Labone in Accra, in a move aimed at expanding access to national identification services.

The new Prestige Centre will begin operating on Saturday, August 1, 2026, making it the first NIA facility to provide Ghana Card registration and related identity services around the clock.

The initiative is expected to provide greater flexibility for people who may find it difficult to access government services during conventional working hours. Members of the public will have the opportunity to access identity-related services outside the normal daytime schedule.

The move comes as the NIA continues efforts to improve access to the Ghana Card and strengthen Ghana's national identification system.

The Ghana Card has become an important identification document for accessing a range of public and private services. Expanding registration hours could therefore make the process more convenient for residents, particularly people whose work schedules make daytime appointments difficult.

The opening of the 24-hour NIA Prestige Centre at Labone represents a new approach to providing Ghana Card services. If successful, the initiative could make registration and other identity services more accessible and convenient for residents in Accra.
